Fox Valley Savings Bank had small beginnings back in 1934 as First Federal Savings and Loan Association. Its start in 1933 and 1934 was nothing more than an idea. In 1933, as the nation was slowly moving out of the strife-ridden depression, the City of Fond du Lac was showing signs of renewed progress and a few visionary men felt the time was right for the establishment of a new finanical institution in the community. Fifty men put up $100 each and signed an application asking the Federal government for permission to organize a Federal Savings and Loan Association in Fond du Lac. The request was approved and that venture has since blossomed into more than $421 million in assets. During the past 73 years, Fox Valley Savings Bank has had 4 different names. It started out in 1935 as First Federal Savings and Loan Association, a financial institution serving Fond du Lac. On July 1, 1973 the name was changed to First Federal Savings and Loan of Fox Valley. This name change was made to reflect the Association's expansion beyond the Fond du Lac area. In 1976, First Federal Savings and Loan Association joined forces with our now Waupun branch. The third name change, to Fox Valley Savings and Loan was made on October 1, 1980. The most recent name change, in 2001, was to Fox Valley Savings Bank. |
